Hello my Lovelies!
Today I would like to share with you how I start my day off right to ensure that I have a peaceful day. First and foremost, your attitude and decision to perfect your peace is a choice. As soon as you open your eyes in the morning, you have to decide that you are going to have a great day and that you are going to be at peace regardless of what your day may bring. Even if the day prior wasn’t the best, when you wake up in the morning, God is giving you another chance to get it right. You are beginning a new day with a clean slate. Take advantage of it!
I begin my morning by thanking God for a new day, and begin to pray. No matter how sleepy I am, I thank Him for what He has done and for what He is going to do. And if I am feeling challenged in some way, I begin to speak life over that situation or circumstance. For instance, if I am exhausted or not feeling very motivated, I will begin to claim that I am full of energy, and that I am strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10 KJV). Often times, I will also remind myself that “I can do all things through Christ which stengethens me” (Philippians 4:13 KJV). I will also ensure that I speak these things out loud so that I begin to put them in the atmosphere and so that my feelings begin to shift in the right direction. Our words have power so it is imperative that we watch what we say and that if we want our lives to move in a particular direction, we must put it in the atmosphere. I can honestly say that when I begin to put positive things and words of affirmation in the atmosphere, that I begin to overcome whatever difficult feeling I am experiencing and I begin to feel the opposite of whatever negative feeling I initially experienced.
I almost forgot to mention that I also take a few moments to do some yoga poses either in the bed or as soon as I get out of the bed so that I am warming my body up. While I am stretching, I focus on my breathing so that I am not just jumping up and starting my day off rushing. This has also helped tremendously, as it helps me feel more relaxed rather than anxious and stressed. And on those days when the morning news is a little too much for my spirit, I will watch a sermon while I get dressed for work. Again, this helps me put positivity out there and relaxes me when I am feeling anxious or stressed. I will share some of the yoga poses and the types of stretches I do in a future post.
Often times, on my way to work, I will listen to spiritual audio books or sermons. Joel Osteen is one of my favorites because of his words of affirmation and his positive encouraging messages. A few of my favorites are below:
These are both excellent books that will have you ready to take on any challenge that may come about during your day. I guarantee you that you will not regret purchasing them. They have literally changed my life.
During my morning commute, I also try to keep my radio on a Christian station or play the Gospel playlist that I created in iTunes. My preference for early mornings is something upbeat with a hip-hop-ish beat so that I pump myself up. Here are some of the songs on my current Gospel (Contemporary Christian) playlist...
My commute to work is approximately an hour long. Most days, I use that time to commune with God and to speak with Him about whatever matters are on my heart. After spending the morning focused on Him, I am full of peace and ready for whatever obstacles may come my way. Additionally, I am not short tempered, and I am full of joy and good vibes that stick with me throughout the day.
Of course, we all have those days when we may face some obstacles or our patience and peace may be tried. On those days, just recount the moments you had with Him earlier in the day and take some more time to get in His presence. Watch some YouTube videos of sermons that have been posted (again, my favorites are Joel Osteen, Bishop T.D. Jakes, and my own Pastor- Reverend Matthew Watley), or listen to some Gospel music. We are supposed to mediate on His word day and night (Joshua 1:8 NIV) and to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). In taking time to be in His presence throughout the day, you are doing exactly what He wants you to do. I can guarantee you that on the days I follow these steps, I have a peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). That peace, is my daily goal. We live in a crazy, cruel, and evil world. I would much rather focus on God and His goodness rather than focus on the negative. If you haven’t incorporated some of these things into your day yet, try it. You will definitely see growth in the end.
Be consistent, be awesome, live in alignment with God’s word, and “seek ye first the kingdom [of God] and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Mathew 6:33).
What morning routines have established to peacefully begin your day? I would love to hear from you!
God bless and nothing but positive vibes and a perfected peace. 😌
Until next time my Luvs!
