Have you ever been in a situation when you were forced to wait. When no matter how much you attempted to take matters into your own hands, you had to wait anyway? Waiting that lasts for days, months, and eventually grueling years? Waiting when you begin to wonder if God hears your prayers? When you have spent hours crying and praying and still do not hear from Him? Well my friend, I can assure you that you are not alone. Like you, I know how difficult waiting can be. And how discouraged it may make you feel. It is during these times that we must stop whatever it is that we are trying to force to happen, and just let God do Him. He is the creator of the universe! There is nothing that He cannot do! So why should we continue to worry and try to figure out how our situation will end up? During times when we find it extremely challenging to wait on Him and difficult to just be still, it is imperative that we seek Him. His word states that if we seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, ALL (NOT SOME) things will be added unto us. (Matthew 6:33 KJV.) It really is just that simple. We are the ones who complicate God and His word. Trust me when I say, I am also speaking to myself as I write this. Although I have a great poker face and I am truly filled with the joy of the Lord, I am still human, and it can be rough at times. Especially when I think about the magnitude of how great our God really is. He tells us in his word that, "[He] knows the plans [He] has for [us]. Plans to prosper [us] and not to harm [us]. Plans to give [us] hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.
While you wait, remember to keep your mind stayed on the Lord. In doing so, just like His word says, He will give you a peace that surpasses understanding. Focus on enjoying the little things along the way, and try to be content right where you are. If you are not content where you are, you may be blocking your blessing as a result of not being appreciative of what you do have. Stop focusing on whatever it is that you feel like you are lacking and focus on how blessed you really are. It could always be worse. And if you are not content right where you are, chances are, you may not be as content as you think you will be when you finally receive whatever it is that you have been praying for. Hold on firm to God's word and lean on Him. Pray without ceasing and remember that His plan is far greater than anything we could ever have planned for our lives. Additionally, His timing is ALWAYS perfect. I am living proof. :) (More on that in a future blog post.)
"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
